Whether you are heading out to see the Twins at Target Field or going for a shopping excursion to the nearby Mall of America, Minneapolis drivers need a vehicle that provides a reliable way to get them where they are going. It also helps if the vehicle is roomy enough for your friends and family, with luxurious finishes to make the ride more enjoyable. This is why so many local motorists choose a luxury midsize SUV as their vehicle of choice. These models can stand up to our often rough weather while also being more environmentally friendly than full-size models.

The Lexus RX has been a leading luxury SUV for many years, but Cadillac threw down the gauntlet in 2023 when it introduced the LYRIQ, a fully electric midsize SUV. With all of its standard features, you will see how the LYRIQ outshines its competitor, stealing the crown right off of the head of the Lexus RX. If you are looking for a Cadillac LYRIQ for sale near Minneapolis, the place to go is Snell Cadillac. We are an authorized Cadillac dealer with an unrivaled selection of LYRIQ models to choose from, so you can get the one that will work best for you.

Electric vs Hybrid Performance

These brands take a very different approach to providing propulsion for their models. Lexus offers a choice of four different powertrains on the RX, three of which are hybrids. On the other hand, Cadillac has equipped the LYRIQ with two different fully electric choices. While you may have more options with the Lexus RX, you cannot get one that is a BEV. Even if you opt for a 2025 RX with its optional plug-in hybrid powertrain, you will still need to buy gasoline for your vehicle. This is not the case with the Cadillac LYRIQ.

Power Output

The LYRIQ offers the choice of a single electric motor in the rear axle or dual motors for each axle. Whichever one you choose, your LYRIQ will be powered by a 102 kWh lithium-ion battery pack located in the lower frame of the vehicle. The single-motor model provides 365 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque, while the dual motor gives you an impressive 515 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque. As with all BEVs, the full amount of torque is delivered as soon as you step on the LYRIQ’s accelerator.

The Lexus RX has different outputs based on which of the four engines you choose. The base 2.4L turbocharged I-4 comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission, delivering 275 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque. This is actually more than the base hybrid engine, a 2.5L I-4 that can provide 246 hp and 233 lb-ft of torque. The second hybrid option, a 2.4L turbocharged I-4, provides 366 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque. This is comparable to the output on the single-motor LYRIQ. Finally, Lexus offers a plug-in hybrid that combines a 2.5L I-4 with electric motors powered by an 18.1 kWh battery. This provides 304 hp. All of the hybrid models of the Lexus RX are all-wheel drive, while the traditional gasoline engine is also available with front-wheel drive.

Speed and Acceleration

If you are looking for speed, then the dual-motor Cadillac LYRIQ is the one for you. This model can go from 0-60 mph in an eye blinking 4.6 seconds. The single-motor LYRIQ is not far behind, with the ability to get up to 60 mph in just 5.7 seconds. This is better than any of the Lexus RX models you can choose. When equipped with the conventional gas engine, the Lexus RX needs 7.6 seconds, while the 2.5L hybrid can get to 60 mph in a sluggish 7.4 seconds. The plug-in hybrid can get to 60 mph in 6.2 seconds, while the 2.4L turbocharged hybrid is the fastest, going from 0-60 mph in 5.9 seconds. This is close to the single-motor LYRIQ, but the dual-motor LYRIQ leaves even the fastest Lexus RX in the dust.

Fuel Economy and Emissions

Depending on the powertrain you choose, the 2025 Lexus RX can give you solid fuel economy. For example, the 2.5L hybrid can get an estimated 36 MPG combined. However, all of these models use gasoline for part of their propulsion, which results in the production of greenhouse gases. While choosing the RX plug-in hybrid will reduce fuel consumption and emissions, it will not eliminate them completely, as it runs out of battery power after just 37 miles. When you drive a 2025 Cadillac LYRIQ, you will have no more need for gasoline and will produce zero emissions. Just plug in your LYRIQ, charge up the battery, and you are ready to go with an estimated 326 miles of range!

Interior Space and Luxury

The LYRIQ has a roomier and more luxurious passenger compartment than the Lexus RX. Both of these models seat up to five passengers, but the LYRIQ does it in style. Front-row passengers will really enjoy having 38.6 inches of headroom and 44.3 inches of legroom in the LYRIQ, which is more than the 37.6 inches of headroom and 41.1 inches of legroom in the front row of the RX. This continues to the rear row of seats, where LYRIQ passengers can really stretch out with 37.7 inches of headroom and 39.6 inches of legroom. If you drive a Lexus RX, your rear-row passengers may start to complain if you are caught in traffic on the way to the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, as they will only have 37 inches of headroom and 37.4 inches of legroom.

If you are taking your SUV out on a shopping excursion, you are going to want the space to fit all of your purchases. Not only does the LYRIQ have a roomier cabin than the Lexus RX, but it also provides more available cargo space. The two models have a fairly comparable trunk space behind the rear row of seats, with the LYRIQ providing 28 cu.ft., while the RX gives you 29.6 cu.ft. of space. But once you fold down the rear row of seats, you can see a major difference. The LYRIQ gives you a voluminous 60.8 cu.ft. for your things, while you only get 46.2 cu.ft. of cargo space in the RX.

Infotainment and Audio Systems

The 2025 LYRIQ features an exceptional infotainment experience with a 33-inch advanced color LED display. This dwarfs the 9.8-inch touchscreen that is the standard on the 2025 Lexus RX. Even if you opt for the available 14-inch screen, it is still less than half the size of the standard screen on the LYRIQ. Wireless charging is also standard on the LYRIQ, which is not the case with the Lexus RX.

The expansive screen on the LYRIQ makes accessing its features easier than ever while giving you and your passengers an immersive experience. Both SUVs have wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, so you can pair your phones with the systems, allowing you to make hands-free calls and texts. However, only the LYRIQ has Google built-in, which lets you enjoy many of your favorite phone apps even if you don’t have your phone with you!

Your music is going to get a boost in the LYRIQ. Every trim of the LYRIQ except the base model has a standard AKG Studio 19-speaker audio system. This system uses surround sound technology, locating speakers throughout the LYRIQ’s passenger cabin, including in the front-row seat headrests. In contrast, you will have to pay extra for the available Mark Levinson PurePlay Surround Sound system on the Lexus RX, as it is not a standard feature on any trim level.
